Our Programs
Our programs span the following areas:
- Health:
Our activities outside the United States will be based on identified needs of the participating community. In Nigeria’s south-eastern region, with a population of more than four million people, Akwa Ibom State has been selected for the pilot program. The greatest needs of this region of Nigeria are Diabetes, Hypertension, Prostate problem, AIDS, Strokes, Cholesterol, and Alzheimer.
What We Do:
Our activities in this region consists of Advocacy, Screenings, Diagnostics, prescriptions and complete treatments and follow-up by our team of medical doctors in each of the 31 Local Government Areas. While these are taking place, the Organization will establish and equip the first Community Specialist Clinics, followed by the establishment of a Research Center and Laboratory. These will take place in the state capital of Uyo. A "Clinic on Wheels" will visit the 31 Local Government Areas with a view to reaching the real needy people--people who have no access whatsoever to modern medicine and/or specialist medical doctors. Transportation will be provided to those who have no means of reaching the Clinic(s).
Pharmacy:
Health Plus Foundation envisions a mini but well-stocked pharmacy staffed by a qualified pharmacist where drugs prescribed by doctors for the patients. - Education:
The "Ambassador Program" will operate in the same manner as the one(s) in the USA. Emphasis will be placed on specific identified problems of children and the youth. With assistance from local authorities, youths and children will be invited to the Center. Their problems will be assessed and volunteers will be made available. "Students" will be guided to dream their dreams, set goals, remain focused, and never to give up until they become the best in whatever they plan to be. Again, the persistent, the successful, and the stars will be crowned "Ambassadors" with all Privileges attached. - Economic Empowerment:
This Program is designed for the Adult—Women and Men. While some may be assisted to return to the land and farm, others will be assisted to acquire skills in their chosen fields. Different communities will be encouraged to donate lands to local farmers who can embark on Commercial Farms where crops will cultivated not only for local consumption but for sale to other communities—thereby fighting hunger and poverty at the same time. Farmers will be supervised by Agriculture specialists from the universities—the latter will encourage the use of modern agro-based technology, including the cautious use of fertilizers.
